GENERAL WAREHOUSE
Regulated by Decree 1,102, of November 21st , 1903, and supervised by the Boards of Trade, General Warehouse were responsible for the keeping, preservation, readiness - within 24 hours - and due for delivery of received goods, being liable for any damage, theft or other eventuality. They could not apply to receive goods, in other words, general stores which received coffee, could not negotiate it.
Another important role of General Warehouse was the issue of two joint titles, but separated at will, which were the awareness deposit and the warrant. They recorded information such as type, quality, volume of other goods and were mainly used by producers to seek funding in banks.
